We are facing an existential shock unprecedented in the history of humanity: the accelerating upheaval of the Earth system caused by human activities is seriously threatening our planet's habitability.
Will we hear his call to restore our intimate connection with God and with all beings, to fraternize with "all that lives and breathes"?" This lecture is an opportunity to explore the spiritual foundations of a new ecological consciousness. |
William CLAPIER is an author, lecturer and theologian. Born into the Christian faith through contact with Eastern spirituality, he deepened his understanding of Carmelite oraison, or silent prayer, in religious life. Following an accident and a long stay in a medical environment (2016-2019), he shares the fruit of his spiritual experience in "Quelle spiritualité pour le XXIe siècle? Au fil d'une vie" (2018). His essay "Effondrements ou révolution? Un appel au sursaut spirituel" (2020), tackles the global ecological crisis from its ethical and spiritual roots. Attentive to our changing world (see his latest essay "L'Esprit, ce grand oublié" (2021)), his commitment lies at the crossroads of Christian faith, the quest for meaning and current societal challenges.
