DESCRIPTION
This presentation proposes to explore the encounter between Advaita Vedanta and Christology in the thought of Raimon Panikkar, a philosopher and theologian whose work remains one of the most profound contributions to interreligious dialogue between East and West. Through the lens of non-duality, it invites us to revisit Christology, not as a fixed doctrinal concept, but as the living manifestation of the cosmotheandric myth, that inseparable fabric of the cosmic, the human, and the divine. At the heart of this reflection lies a fundamental question: is the cosmotheandric myth a learned construction that gives form and intelligibility to a prior mystical experience, or is it a mystical experience that subsequently seeks intellectual articulation? This tension between experience and its theoretical formulation forms the guiding thread of the presentation and reveals something essential about the very nature of Panikkar’s thought, a mode of thinking that refuses to separate academic rigor from contemplative depth. |

Enrico BELTRAMINI is a theologian in the Roman Catholic tradition and a historian of ideas at Notre Dame de Namur University in California. A specialist in the work of Raimon Panikkar, he has published a book and several articles devoted to his thought and is currently completing a second volume on Panikkar. His research focuses on the theology of religions, interreligious dialogue, and the encounter between Christian thought and the traditions of South Asia.
