SOLARS CENTRE is a service to the community, helping to provide a spiritual education in a society that is losing its transcendence, both materialistic and fascinated by the supernatural. It introduces people to the contemplative Christian path, in dialogue with other spiritualities, the arts and sciences, so as to respond to the desire to drink from the Source and to be transformed by it, to find one's place and inner peace here on earth, and to think about the foundations of a new way of living together.
This training and research center is independent, non-proselytizing and open to anyone seeking an authentic life. It offers academic tools and teachings from humanity's spiritual heritage to deepen our relationship with the supreme reality, the power of freedom and love, which reminds us that we are more than a body, more than our emotions and more than our ability to reason. It is based on a holistic theology, centered on the notions of discernment and the initiatory path, attentive to both intuition and reason, experience and theory, self-discovery and rigorous reflection.
Fabrice BLÉE, PhD, associate professor of theology (more information), founded SOLARS CENTRE because he saw a lack of reference points among people wishing to live a profound spirituality and reappropriate the contemplative roots of Christianity in resonance with the mystical and philosophical heritage of humanity.
There are few educational settings where the experience of the divine within is as welcome as the effort of methodical reflection. If purely theoretical discourse is not enough to awaken to spiritual things, then experience alone can lead to a dead end; it needs a sound, enlightened conceptual framework to grow and open up to greater freedom. The Centre Contemplation et Hospitalité responds to this by creating a research community, including theologians, academics from other disciplines, self-taught people, artists and meditators.
Contemplation refers to the experience of God's transforming presence within and beyond the self, and the ability to allow oneself to be moved by that presence in trust. Hospitality is the act of welcoming others in their differences, freely and respectfully, without denying oneself; it lies at the heart of all constructive dialogue. One cannot exist without the other. The great monastic tradition is a privileged witness to this, and has inspired our approach.
To make it easier for you to take part in our conferences and online seminars, there is no charge. However, we would like to ask for your generosity to help us make our activities accessible to as many people as possible.
SOLARS saw the light of day in 2016 with the release of the film about Henri Le Saux (a Benedictine monk known as Swami Abhishiktananda, who today embodies the link between contemplation and hospitality), L'Aurore du Tréfonds. The spiritual birth of Swamiji (Solars Productions).

The word SOLARS is a combination of two Latin words, SOL (sun) and ARS (art). The "Arts of the Sun" symbolically refer to paths and practices oriented towards that which is ultimate, beyond, divine, pure love, pure consciousness, pure grace. The logo represents the conviction that access to the divine presence, illustrated by the flame, always passes through a particular structure, albeit one that is always limited and reformable.
