Our partners - Michael HIGHBURGER

Born in the United States in 1960, Michael Highburger spent six years studying continental philosophy at UT Austin, the University of Copenhagen and Baylor University. He undertook graduate work in philosophy and linguistic anthropology at UT Austin with a later stint at Brite Divinity School.

Living one year in Africa followed by one year in Israel, he did his field work in Guatemala. Subsequently he undertook seven years of non-residential training in Buddhist meditation in the Kapleau lineage at Rochester Zen Center in upstate New York before taking up full-time residence at New Camaldoli Hermitage, Big Sur, California, a hermit order within the Benedictine Confederation.

Having authored and edited numerous books on the Advaita Vedanta of Ramana Maharshi, his 23 years in India has involved the study of interfaith dialogue within Hinduism, Buddhism and Christianity where he assists in hosting groups from the West and participating in interfaith conferences.

In recent years, he has been hosted by various governmental and non-governmental organisations in Europe to give talks and lead meditation retreats.

Michael HIGHBURGER will give a lecture on December 27, 2023 as part of SOLARS CENTRE's activities on The Path Up the Mountain. Obstacles and Helpers.
